Title

I am an artist living and working in Devon and am fascinated by the texture and surface of this diverse geological area. I use clays, pigments, graphite and local soils to explore ideas of layers, textures and underlying structure. In nature rocks can be eroded or transformed and then laid down again to be built up in new ways. Cracks and fissures appear allowing molten material to escape.

So it is with ideas and emotions.

Using natural materials I am exploring layers of experience. What rises up through fissures or what erosion reveals, gives insights into how we view and re evaluate our past. Clay, in the form of delicate ceramics, also reflects the transformational nature of this wonderful material.

My work is an ongoing exploration of emotional geology.
